Nicole and Johannes' Christmas Wedding

My last wedding of the year was so great! I was lucky enough to spend it with Nicole and Johannes who are one of the nicest couples I've worked with all year. And I've met some really great couples, so that's a huge compliment. :)

Anyway, the morning of their wedding I headed over to Wisconsin Dells. We did some formal pictures of the guys and girls separately at Great Wolf Lodge, then headed over to Spring Brook for their ceremony. Since the ceremony and dinner were family and just a few close friends, it was a small, intimate group. They were all very fun and easy to work with, that's for sure!

Because of the snow storm that day (err, blizzard) we weren't able to head over to the River Walk for their couple's session.  But we did get some nice pictures outside their venue.

Anyway, here are my favorite two pictures of the day.

And the preview:  (the rest are coming next week!)

2009 Update and Bridal Expo

Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a few days, so I just wanted to give you all the updates on Studio Noveau!

January 11th is the Bridal Expo in La Crosse, so feel free to stop by my booth if you'll be there. Also, if any of you need tickets, just email me your address and I'll drop some in the mail for you. I have LOTS of tickets to give away!

Right now I am about 50% booked for weddings in 2009. May, June, and August are completely full, with many other months pretty close to booked. So don't wait long to contact me about your date if you haven't already done so! If last year is any indication, the rest of my open dates will probably fill pretty quickly. :)

I'll be posting the preview for Nicole and Johannes' wedding next week, so make sure to stop by for that!

Stacey and Greg's fabulous fall wedding

Recently I headed up to La Crosse for the wedding of Stacey and Greg. They were married in La Crosse with their reception at the Midway Best Western along the Mississippi River. They had some gorgeous fall details in their wedding!

Some of my favorites:

Stacey and Greg, congratulations! Thanks for letting me be there on your wedding day. It was great getting to know you and your families. Oh, and speaking of family... from what I hear, Greg's youngest brother, Geoff, is single, employed, and looking for a nice young woman. :) If anybody reading this is interested... let me know and I'll see what I can do! This is Geoff:

Lastly, Stacey and Greg, here is your official preview. When the rest of your images are finished and posted in your proofing gallery, I'll let you know right away!

Fun tool for wedding plannning

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd share a fun website I found a few days ago. It sure would have been nice to know about this when I was trying to figure out how to wear my hair for my wedding! If you have a few minutes, try giving yourself a makeover! They allow you to change hair color, style, apply makeup, whiten teeth, and more. They even have sample updos! :) Cool, huh?

The last couple weeks I've been debating making the change from blonde to brunette, and cutting my hair shorter. So here's my before and after, courtesy of ivillage.com:

Check back soon for Stacey and Greg's wedding preview!

Katie and Daniel tie the knot!

Saturday I drove down to Platteville for Katie and Daniel's beautiful wedding.  Their ceremony was in this really neat old church that had exposed brick and a beautiful sanctuary.  I loved it!  Everyone was so nice and they had the cutest ring bearers and flower girl.

I even ran into one of my instructors from college several years ago!  It's always funny to me when I see familiar faces at weddings since I didn't grow up in this part of the state.  Apparently Katie used to be his kids' nanny!  Small world, huh?

Since it was the middle of November, it was quite chilly, and we weren't able to go outside for any photos of the wedding party.  That was a bit of a bummer, but we still got some nice ones inside the church.

Right now, Katie and Daniel are living it up in Las Vegas.  Congratulations you guys!  Thanks for allowing me to be your photographer on your wedding day!

Ty and Josh got married in Boscobel!

This preview is late. Yes, I know... very late! They actually got married just over a week ago, and normally I try to get previews up within a few days. Sorry, guys! With wedding season just starting to come to an end for the year, that's been a mad flurry of things to do.

Right now they are probably sitting on a beach in Costa Rica, drinking something out of a coconut. Did I mention Costa Rica was one of my favorite places in the world? I've been to a lot of countries (15 if anyone is counting), but it was by far one of the coolest places to visit.

Anyway, back to Ty and Josh. They are too cute. We did engagement photos in Ferryville a few months ago, and their pictures ended up centering around the train tracks that run through the little town. In fact, we even got a couple neat ones as the train was actually racing past us! So imagine my excitement as we decided to take even more pictures that had a train theme. Boscobel has a super cool historic train depot, and we headed there for about 20 minutes of pictures. We also stopped by a park along the Wisconsin River for just a few minutes, and were able to get a couple neat ones at sunset. I posted a few of my favorites below.

Another cool thing they did was schedule a private moment for the two of them to see each other for the first time... without anyone else. Except me and my cameras. But anyway, Josh was like a little kid at Christmas the first time he saw Ty in her wedding dress. It was probably the sweetest thing I've ever seen!

Ty and Josh were also one of the first couples to purchase the Photo Guest Book after their engagement session. It was neat to see how much the guests liked it. My favorite passage from their book was when one guest wrote (next to a train picture, of course!) how they should "stay on TRACK" and that Ty should "TRAIN Josh well". :D I'm a bit cheesy, so that made me laugh. There's a picture of it in the slideshow so you all can enjoy it as much as I did.

And here is your slideshow:

Nicole and Johannes

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Nicole and Johannes at Lake Redstone County Park by Reedsburg.

Their wedding got moved up by several months to this December, so we knew we had to get this session done soon.  And since our original date of last Sunday got SNOWED out, we were really feeling the time crunch!

Anyway, the park was a great place for pictures, and I'd love to go back sometime.  And Nicole and Johannes made my job so easy- they were so fun to work with!  Here is their sneak peak, and the rest will be posted on the site in the next two weeks.

Welcome to Studio Noveau! (Formerly Images of Distinction)

Welcome to the first official blog post of Studio Noveau!  For those of you that know me as Images of Distinction, I'm glad you are here.  Those of you that are just finding me for the first time, welcome to my blog.  I hope you enjoy reading about the weddings I photograph and the couples I meet.   I love what I do.

If you are interested in seeing past weddings and engagements, please visit my old blog at www.iodphotography.wordpress.com. There is hours of entertainment over there, just waiting to be explored!

Sometimes people ask why I don't write about anything on here other than work-related things, so this post is a first in that aspect as well.  As many of you know, I got married last year.  So I am married but not yet "babied".  Instead we have two small dogs.  This is the first puppy we added to our family: Shasta.  Isn't she cute?  I'll post a picture of Juliette soon.
